Growth Sessions

A regular hour to think about the business side

Running a practice throws up a steady stream of decisions that have nothing to do with the clinical work. Growth Sessions are an hour set aside to focus on your business, with someone who understands both halves of what you're building.

  • £120per session
  • 60minutes, on a video call
  • 1short written summary afterwards

How it works

You bring what's actually on your mind: a decision you're stuck on, something that isn't working, a plan you want tested before you commit to it. We talk it through, and I tell you what I'd do and why, including the things I'd leave alone.

Afterwards you get a short written summary: what we covered, what we agreed, and the specific things worth working on before we next speak.

One hour, then a short written summary

What people bring

Pricing, and whether your fee matches the work

Enquiries that arrive but don't turn into clients

Whether a directory, advertising or platform is worth paying for

Whether you show up when people ask Google or ChatGPT for a therapist

Positioning: who the practice is for, and whether your copy says so

Adding a specialism, a group, corporate work or training

Admin that takes more time than it should

The commercial side of a decision that's mostly clinical

Not sure what to bring? The free Growth Check takes about five minutes and points to the area most worth working on.

How often

Monthly

One hour a month is enough to keep momentum without becoming another commitment to manage, and it means each session builds on the last rather than starting cold.

A good place to start

Weekly

Usually during a transition, a relaunch, or a period where decisions are coming quickly.

A single session

To work through one specific thing and leave it there.

There's no minimum, no block booking and no contract. You book the sessions you want, and you stop when it's no longer useful. £120 per session, whichever way you do it.

Why me for this

I'm currently training as a psychotherapist at CCPE, alongside thirteen years in commercial marketing and strategy, including eight years at Amazon, most recently as a Senior Growth Manager. Most people come to me for the combination rather than either half.

To be clear about what this is: commercial guidance for the business side of your practice, not clinical supervision.

Sessions or a Strategy?

Sessions

Growth Sessions are a thinking partner. They work from what you bring, and they're most useful when you know roughly what the questions are and want someone to help you answer them well.

Or a Strategy?

A Growth Strategy is a piece of research. I look at your actual website, your search visibility, your directory listings and your competitors, and write up what I find with prioritised recommendations. It's for when you need evidence rather than direction.

Plenty of clients only ever do one. Others use Sessions to work out what they need, then move to a Strategy, or ask Clay to do a specific piece of work once it's clear. Nothing leads automatically to anything else. See how all the options compare on the homepage.

What Clay clients say

Growth Sessions & Growth Strategy · Client story

“We have improved the marketing of our courses with positive results.”

“Our main reason for seeking the input of Clay Consulting was to help us optimise Catalyst’s website as our core online marketing tool. Clay Consulting carried out an audit of our website promptly and effectively and provided a detailed report with areas for improvement.

As changes can take time to implement, we particularly valued the personal service with the offer of regular 1:1 meetings to help us understand aspects of the report and also the technical nature of some of the SEO content. These meetings helped us to understand what we needed to do. We were then able to translate this into action to enhance our online presence.

Companies can spend a huge amount of money on these kinds of activities, so it was important to Catalyst that Clay Consulting demonstrated sensitivity to our specialist area of work and a sympathetic understanding of our budgetary constraints as a not-for-profit social enterprise.

As a result of working with Clay Consulting, we have improved the marketing of our courses with positive results. I would definitely recommend Clay Consulting to other organisations or individuals looking to improve their online presence.”

Common questions

Do I have to commit to anything?

No. Growth Sessions can be booked one at a time or monthly, and stopped whenever you want. There's no block booking, contract or subscription.

Is it cheaper to book monthly?

No. Every Growth Session is £120, whichever cadence you choose.

Do I need a free call first?

No. You can book a Growth Session directly. If you'd rather understand the options before spending anything, a free 30-minute call is available.

How do payment and cancellation work?

Sessions are paid by card when you book, through Stripe. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours before your session for a full refund or one free reschedule. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice aren't refundable.

Is this business supervision?

No. Supervision is a clinical relationship with its own professional standards. Growth Sessions are commercial guidance for the business side of a practice, and aren't a substitute for clinical supervision.

What do I get in writing?

After each session, George sends a short summary of what was discussed, what was agreed, and the specific things to work on before the next one.

Can Clay do the work we talk about?

Yes. If a session surfaces a specific job, such as setting up a Google Business Profile or rewriting a directory listing, Clay can take it on as a fixed project at a fixed price, agreed separately.

Can an organisation use this?

Yes. Group practices, CICs and training organisations can book Growth Sessions, and more than one person can join the call.

What if I run out of things to bring?

Then stop, or leave a longer gap between sessions. George would rather you paused and came back when something comes up than kept a standing slot out of habit.
